Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Revela app for macOS, iOS and iPadOS and this website (together, the “Service”), operated by Casper Steenhoven (“we”, “us”), based in the Netherlands. By downloading or using Revela, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Revela is a photo editing app that uses artificial intelligence to modify images based on your written instructions. Your photo library is stored locally on your device; AI edits are processed through our servers and third-party AI providers.

2. Accounts

• Certain features require an account, created via Sign in with Apple.
• You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
• You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or abuse the Service (including systematic abuse of refunds or the credit system).

3. Subscriptions, credits, and payments

• Revela offers a free tier and paid subscriptions (Pro and Studio), billed monthly or yearly through the App Store, plus optional one-time credit top-ups.
• Each AI edit consumes credits based on the quality level you select. Credit allowances refill on a recurring basis and unused credits do not roll over unless stated otherwise in the App.
• Prices are shown in the App and may vary by region. Payment, renewal, and cancellation are handled by Apple: subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and can be managed in your Apple ID settings.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policies. If a purchase is refunded, the associated credits and plan benefits are revoked.
• We may change plan pricing or credit allowances going forward; changes will not affect an already-paid billing period.

Fair use

• Each plan includes a weekly credit allowance: Free 3, Pro 50 and Studio 150 credits. Allowances refill every Monday (UTC); unused credits do not roll over. Purchased top-up credits stay until used.
• Yearly plans may include a free trial. During the trial you receive a trial allowance of 20 credits per week; your plan's full allowance starts with the first paid billing period. If you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, you will not be charged.
• To keep the Service sustainable for everyone, AI features are subject to fair-use limits, including a maximum number of AI edits per hour, a daily limit on AI analysis requests, and a shared daily budget for free accounts. When a limit is reached, AI features pause temporarily and resume automatically.
• You are never charged credits for an AI edit that fails or is refused; credits for failed edits are returned automatically.
• We may adjust these limits to protect the Service, but we will not reduce the credit allowance of a billing period you have already paid for.
• Accounts that try to get around these limits — for example with multiple accounts, automated requests, or repeated refunds — may be limited or suspended.

4. Your content

• You keep all rights to the photos you edit with Revela and to the resulting edited images, to the extent permitted by law.
• By requesting an edit, you grant us a limited license to transmit and process the photo and your instruction solely to deliver that edit.
• You are responsible for the content you submit. You must have the necessary rights to the photos you edit, and you must not use the Service to create content that is unlawful, infringes others' rights (including privacy and portrait rights), or is intended to deceive (for example, non-consensual intimate imagery or misleading depictions of real people).

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• reverse engineer, resell, or provide the Service to third parties as your own service;
• circumvent credit accounting, rate limits, or other technical protections;
• use the Service to generate unlawful, harmful, or deceptive content;
• interfere with the operation or security of the Service.

6. AI output

AI-generated edits are produced by machine-learning models and may occasionally be inaccurate, unexpected, or unsuitable. You are responsible for reviewing edits before using them. We do not guarantee any particular result.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. AI features depend on third-party providers and may be temporarily unavailable, changed, or replaced. We may update the App and these features over time.

8. Intellectual property

The App, website, branding, and all related materials are our property or that of our licensors. These Terms do not grant you any rights to them beyond normal use of the Service.

9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the maximum extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability arising from intent or gross negligence, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time and request account deletion by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate the Service or your access to it for violation of these Terms, with notice where reasonably possible.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the App or on this website before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence. If you are an EU consumer, you may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
